CLE Connecticut Sixty is the largest ring in the Connecticut range of the CLE line. It carries an Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper over a Honduran binder and aged Honduran long filler. It is rolled by hand at the Aladino factory in Danlí, Honduras. A box holds 25 cigars, priced at $199.99 against a $333.32 list price, which works out to about $8.00 per cigar.

The story behind it is a change of pace. Christian Eiroa made his name building full-bodied blends for Camacho, then started CLE and produced a Connecticut that is mellow to medium and still layered. The wide 60 ring gauge suits that blend. A bigger cigar burns cooler, so the smoke stays smooth, and the flavors have room to develop over a long session of 75 to 90 minutes.

What you taste:

Smokers report toasted nuts, cedar, cream and butter, with citrus and orange peel, a mineral note and light pepper. The finish is crisp and clean rather than heavy. A published rating of 91 points describes spice and mineral notes moving into leather, orange peel and black pepper, so expect a bit more spice in the later stages than the mild label suggests.
