CLE Connecticut 50x5 is the classic robusto in the CLE line, and the easiest entry point to it. It is wrapped in Ecuadorian Connecticut shade over a Honduran binder and Honduran long filler. It is hand-rolled in Honduras at the factory formerly known as El Aladino. A box holds 25 cigars, priced at $179.99 against a $299.98 list price, which works out to roughly $7.20 per cigar.

Christian Eiroa launched CLE in 2012 after building Camacho into a household name with his father. His aim with CLE was a range of blends that taste distinct from each other without leaning on limited editions. The Connecticut sits at the mild end of that range, but it is not a plain cigar. Reviewers pick up cream, wood and natural sweetness before lighting, then a peppery start that gives way to dried fruit and orange citrus.

How it smokes:

One published review scored this size 92 and called the burn and draw excellent, with a firm salt-and-pepper ash. A separate professional review scored the line 91, noting spice and mineral notes moving into leather, orange peel and black pepper.
