About CLE Cigars
CLE, short for Cigars by Christian Eiroa, launched in 2012. Christian Eiroa is a Honduran-based cigar maker with decades of experience, and the cigars are rolled by hand at his CLE factory in Honduras. The brand began with milder, balanced blends that still carry real flavor, and has since added a Maduro to the range.
The cigars are long-filler, non-flavored and built for smokers who want a polished, flavorful cigar rather than a pure value smoke. Boxes are 25-count, and the price per cigar sits in premium territory, from about $7.20 each after the 40% discount.
Connecticut or Maduro?
CLE comes in two wrapper styles, and they smoke quite differently.
- Connecticut uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper over a Honduran binder and Honduran long filler. It is mild to medium, with cream, roasted nuts, cedar and a little leather. It is the one to start with if you want a smooth, balanced smoke.
- Maduro uses a dark Mexican San Andres wrapper over Honduran binder and filler. It leans toward mocha, with coffee, cocoa, earth and pepper that builds as the cigar burns. It is the richer option, with more strength in the second half.
If you are not sure, start with the Connecticut Robusto. If you already enjoy dark wrappers, go straight to a Maduro.

Cigars by Christian Eiroa. The brand launched in 2012.
Are CLE cigars handmade?
Yes. They are hand-rolled with long filler and are not flavored.

The Connecticut line is mild to medium. The Maduro is a step up, starting milder and building to medium by the second half. None of them is a heavy, full-strength cigar.
What is the difference between the Connecticut and Maduro?
The wrapper. Connecticut uses Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade for a creamy, nutty smoke. Maduro uses a dark Mexican San Andres leaf for a richer smoke of coffee, cocoa and pepper.
What is a figurado?
A shaped cigar with a tapered end. The CLE Connecticut 54x6 is a figurado, so it narrows toward the head, which concentrates the flavor as you smoke.
