Cyrilla Senators Maduro Cigars - Box of 25

A dark, toasty, mild maduro in the larger Senators line, at about $1.84 a cigar.

Cyrilla Senators Maduro is the dark-wrapper version of the larger Senators line in the Cyrilla range. The wrapper is Connecticut Broadleaf, over Dominican and Honduran binder and filler. A box holds 25 cigars, priced at $45.99 against a $76.65 list price, which works out to about $1.84 per cigar.

The wrapper is what sets a Maduro apart. Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in full sun, which makes the leaf thick and full of sugar. Cigar guides describe it as earthy and toasty with a subtle sweetness, and it often has a rough, oily, veiny look. In a mild cigar like this one, that translates to a richer, slightly sweeter smoke than the Natural, without becoming heavy.

These are machine-made cigars, which keeps each one consistent and keeps the cost per cigar low. They are made to be mild and easy, not complex. The Cyrilla name itself dates to the early 1900s, beginning in Chicago, moving to Tampa in 1921, and now held by Arango Cigar Co.

What to expect:

1. A toasty, earthy flavor with a hint of sweetness from the dark wrapper
2. A mild body, richer than the Natural but not heavy
3. A dark, rustic-looking wrapper with visible veins, which is normal for this leaf

Who it suits:

1. Smokers who want a darker, sweeter cigar without moving to a strong one
2. Buyers who like a Maduro but want a low price per cigar
3. Anyone who has tried the Natural and wants more flavor

For the lighter wrapper in the same line, see Cyrilla Senators Natural. For the other large line, see Kings Maduro. For the most affordable Maduro, try Nationals Maduro or Slims Maduro. More boxes are in our cigar collection.
