Arturo Fuente cigars are handmade in Santiago, Dominican Republic by four generations of the same family. The name covers four distinct tiers, not one blend: the Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva core line, the cedar-sleeved Arturo Fuente Chateau Fuente series, the all-perfecto Arturo Fuente Hemingway collection, and the Cameroon-wrapped Arturo Fuente Don Carlos. Below those sits a genuine value tier built on short and mixed filler.

A short history worth knowing

Arturo Fuente Sr. left Cuba in 1902 and founded A. Fuente & Co. in West Tampa in 1912. A fire destroyed the factory in 1924 and stopped production for 22 years.

The brand restarted in 1946 on the 160 square foot back porch of the family home in Ybor City. In 1958 Carlos Fuente Sr. bought the business from his father for one dollar.

A second fire took the family's Nicaraguan factory in 1979. They opened in Santiago in September 1980, and the Dominican era began. Carlos Fuente Jr., known as Carlito Fuente, runs the company today.

That resilience is not marketing. Fuente has survived nine fires across its history, including two warehouse losses in Villa González that destroyed decades of aged leaf.

The four tiers, at a glance

Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva

The Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva is the flagship series and the widest part of this collection. Dominican filler and binder sit under African Cameroon, Connecticut Shade or Ecuadorian Sun Grown wrapper leaf, and every step is done by hand.

Sizes here follow the classic Cuban naming convention. The Arturo Fuente Rothschild is a 4½ x 50 robusto. The Arturo Fuente Petit Corona is a slim 5 x 38. The Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva Spanish Lonsdale runs 6½ x 42, the Arturo Fuente Churchill 7¼ x 48, and the Arturo Fuente Cañones is a full 8½ x 52.

The Arturo Fuente Flor Fina 8-5-8 is the vitola named after the founder himself. This 6 x 47 corona gorda is stocked in three finishes: Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 Natural, Arturo Fuente 858 Maduro, and a Claro. That last one carries a green candela wrapper, a style almost nobody still produces at this quality.

Arturo Fuente Chateau Fuente

Arturo Fuente Chateau Fuente cigars ship in aromatic Spanish cedar sleeves. The cedar continues to season the tobacco in the box and adds a distinct sweetness to the draw.

The base Arturo Fuente Chateau Fuente Natural is a 4½ x 50 robusto. Its bigger sibling, the Arturo Fuente Double Chateau, is a 6¾ x 50 toro. Both come in Natural, Maduro and Sun Grown, so you can taste the same blend across three wrappers.

The Arturo Fuente Royal Salute is the largest at 7⅝ x 54, packed in tens.

Figurado and tubed formats sit here too: the Pyramid at 6 x 52, the Arturo Fuente King T in its illustrated tube, a Rosado Sun Grown King T, the Arturo Fuente Cuban Belicoso, and the pressed Arturo Fuente King B and Arturo Fuente Queen B in Sun Grown.

Arturo Fuente Hemingway

Every cigar in the Arturo Fuente Hemingway series is a perfecto, tapered at the head and closed at the foot. Carlos Fuente Sr. found the original moulds in an Ybor City warehouse and revived the shape in 1983, at a time when almost no maker still rolled them.

They take roughly twice as long to roll as a standard parejo. That is why Hemingway cigars cost what they do.

The blend is aged Dominican filler and binder under a thin, toothy Cameroon wrapper. Expect cedar, orange peel, cocoa and coffee at a medium body.

Arturo Fuente Don Carlos

Arturo Fuente Don Carlos is named for Carlos Fuente Sr. and was his personal blend. Rare Cameroon wrapper covers vintage Dominican tobacco aged as long as ten years, which is why the line is released in limited quantity.

2026 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the first Don Carlos cigar.

Seven sizes are stocked: Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Robusto (5 x 50), No. 4 (5 x 43), No. 3 (5½ x 44), Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Belicoso (5⅜ x 52), Double Robusto (5¾ x 52), Arturo Fuente Don Carlos No. 2 (5⅞ x 44/55) and Arturo Fuente Don Carlos Presidente (6½ x 50).

This is the top of the range here. Arturo Fuente Don Carlos cigars reward slow smoking and a rested palate.

The everyday Fuente tier

Fuente is unusual among prestige brands in making a genuinely affordable everyday cigar, and it is worth being straight about how they are built.

Arturo Fuente Curly Head and Arturo Fuente Brevas Royale use aged short filler, made from clippings taken during production of the higher tiers. The Arturo Fuente Curly Head Natural comes unbanded in boxes of 40. Arturo Fuente Curly Head Deluxe and Arturo Fuente Curly Head Deluxe Maduro come in 25s.

Arturo Fuente Exquisitos and Arturo Fuente Exquisitos Maduro arrive in 50-count boxes.

Arturo Fuente Especiales is a Cuban sandwich blend, meaning long leaves wrapped around shorter filler, finished with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper rather than the Cameroon or Connecticut used elsewhere. Three sizes are stocked: Cazadores, Conquistadores and the Arturo Fuente Emperador.

Arturo Fuente Cubanitos are the brand's 4½ x 32 small format, sold 100 to a box in Natural and Maduro. Fuente has confirmed these are built from genuine leftover leaf rather than purpose-shredded short filler, and the wrapper is real Cameroon aged at least ten years. Choosing a wrapper

1. Natural is Connecticut Shade or Cameroon depending on the vitola. Creamy, mild, nutty. Start here.
2. Arturo Fuente Maduro is Connecticut Broadleaf. Darker, sweeter, notes of cocoa and espresso.
3. Sun Grown is Ecuadorian. More pepper, more body, a step up in strength.
4. Rosado is a reddish Sun Grown leaf from lower primings, smoother than standard Sun Grown.
5. Claro is candela, cured green. Grassy, tea-like and genuinely rare.

Which Arturo Fuente should you start with?

Storage

Keep a Fuente cigar at 68 to 70 percent relative humidity and around 68°F. Cedar-sleeved Chateau Fuente boxes hold humidity well, so leave the sleeves on. Maduro and Don Carlos blends both improve with a year or two of rest.
