Oliva Serie V - Sampler of 5 Cigars

The Oliva Serie V Sampler 5 gives you five different Serie V shapes from the brand’s flagship full-flavored line. At $47.99, 40% off the $79.98 list price, it works out to about $9.60 per cigar, so you can find your favorite size before committing to a box.

All five cigars share the same blend: a sun-grown Habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and a Nicaraguan filler that includes fermented Jalapa Valley ligero. The profile is medium to full, with coffee, dark chocolate, cedar and spice, and a creamy smoke.

The pack covers a range of shapes: a Double Robusto, a Torpedo, a Churchill Extra and two Diademas, which are long, pointed shapes that taper at both ends. Because the blend stays the same, any difference you taste comes from the shape and size. That makes it a quick way to see which format suits your pace. Once you choose, move up to a box: the Serie V Double Robusto, 24, the Serie V Torpedo, 24 or the Serie V Churchill Extra, 24. For a full-bodied sampler in a different wrapper, try the Melanio Sampler 6.

How to smoke the sampler:

1. Start with the Double Robusto, the shortest, to learn the blend.
2. Move to the Torpedo and then the Churchill Extra to see how the same tobacco changes with size.
3. Smoke the Diademas last. Their shape narrows toward the foot, so the flavor shifts as the ring gauge changes.
4. Note your favorite and buy that shape by the box.
