The big-ring Nicaragua Cohiba, built for long sessions, at about $16.81 a cigar.

Cohiba Nicaragua N60 is the 6 x 60 toro gordo in the Nicaragua line of the Cohiba range, the first Cohiba blended and made in Nicaragua. It has a red-hued Honduran Colorado Oscuro wrapper over a Jalapa binder and Nicaraguan filler from Esteli and Jalapa. A box holds 16 cigars at $268.99 against a $448.32 list price, which works out to roughly $16.81 each.

The Colorado wrapper gives it a different feel from the Habano and Cameroon leaves in other Cohiba lines. Reviewers describe cedar and natural tobacco at the start, often with an apricot-like sweetness, then classic wood and earth through the middle, with black pepper and a creamy finish. Retailers rate it medium to medium-full, so it is bolder than the Rubicon or Blue but not a heavy cigar.

The 60 ring gauge burns slowly and keeps the smoke cool, so plan on a long session. A trade review gave the burn and draw top marks, though it found the sweetness faded in the second half and preferred the smaller N50 robusto for flavor. If you want the same line in a slimmer size, the Cohiba Nicaragua N54 costs about 80 cents less per cigar, and the Cohiba Nicaragua Robusto comes in a smaller box of 8.

What to expect:

  1. Opening: cedar, natural tobacco and a light apricot sweetness
  2. Middle: wood, earth and black pepper
  3. Finish: leather, oak and a creamy close

Who it suits:

  1. Smokers who want a bolder Cohiba
  2. Fans of 60 ring gauge cigars and long sessions
  3. Buyers who like Colorado-wrapper cedar and pepper over sweeter blends

For a milder Cohiba in a similar size, try the Cohiba Rubicon Gigante. For a stronger one, see the Cohiba Black Gigante. More boxes are in our premium cigar collection.

For adults 21+ only. Contains nicotine, which is addictive.

Flavor progression:

  1. First third: cedar, natural tobacco, light apricot sweetness
  2. Second third: wood, earth, black pepper
  3. Final third: leather, oak, a creamier finish

Notes are from retailer descriptions and reviews, not from the manufacturer.
