The biggest Cohiba, a 7 x 70 for long, thick smoking, at about $12.20 a cigar.

Cohiba Blue 7x70 is the largest cigar General Cigar has released under the Cohiba name, and the sixth size in the Blue line of the Cohiba range. It has a sun-grown Honduran Olancho San Agustin wrapper and binder, with filler from Honduras (Jamastran), Nicaragua (Ometepe) and the Dominican Republic (Piloto Cubano). It is made at General Cigar Dominicana in the Dominican Republic. A box holds 15 cigars at $182.99 against a $304.98 list price, which works out to roughly $12.20 each.

Cohiba Blue was built to offer a more approachable Cohiba, and the 7x70 adds the thick smoke that many smokers want. Retailers describe a medium-bodied blend with earth, leather, cocoa, caramel and cinnamon, plus cedar, white pepper, coffee and a background of tobacco sweetness. The draw is described as easy, with a large cloud of smoke, and the 70 ring gauge keeps the temperature cool.

It is a very large cigar, and some smokers find it too much. One reviewer called it a go-to Cohiba Blue but found the 7x70 too big to draw on well, with an uneven burn, while others call it just right with good smoke and plan to buy more. Plan on a couple of hours, and use a wide cut. If you prefer a more manageable size, the Cohiba Blue Churchill and Cohiba Blue Toro use the same line at a lower price.

What to expect:

  1. Opening: white pepper, oats and cedar
  2. Middle: earth, leather and cocoa
  3. Finish: caramel, cinnamon and a gentle tobacco sweetness

Who it suits:

  1. Smokers who love thick, cool smoke
  2. Anyone with a couple of free hours
  3. Gift buyers who want a showpiece cigar at a Blue price

For a classic Red Dot instead, try the Cohiba Red Dot Robusto. For a more affordable big ring, see the Cohiba Rubicon Gigante. More boxes are in our premium cigar collection.

For adults 21+ only. Contains nicotine, which is addictive.

Flavor progression:

  1. First third: white pepper, oats, cedar
  2. Second third: earth, leather, cocoa
  3. Final third: caramel, cinnamon, tobacco sweetness

Notes are from retailer descriptions and reviews, not from the manufacturer.
