AVO Syncro 10th Anniversary - Box of 20

A genuine milestone release. 2025 marked both the 150th anniversary of Davidoff's parent company and the 10th anniversary of Syncro Nicaragua, the blend that first introduced Nicaraguan tobacco to the Avo brand back in 2015. To mark the occasion, Avo's Master Blenders built a limited variation on that original formula, keeping tobacco from similar regions but redistributing it differently across the blend, and dropping the Peruvian filler component found in the original recipe. Limited to 3,400 boxes for the US market, this is the fifth release in the Syncro series and the first true limited edition under that name.

The cigar itself is a box-pressed Diadema Fina, a dual-tapered figurado shape at 6⅝ x 50, wrapped in Ecuadorian leaf over a Nicaraguan binder, with filler drawn from Nicaragua's volcanic Ometepe soil and the Dominican Republic. The dark Colorado wrapper carries medium veins and a coffee-bean color with a silky texture, and the pre-light aroma brings barnyard, tobacco, spice, cocoa, and earth. Once lit, the opening delivers natural tobacco, nougat, earth, pepper, and baker's spice, with a layer of black pepper on the retrohale, before the second third shifts earth notes to the front alongside cedar and an increase in both pepper and that cedar character. The final third leans further into cedar and pepper with touches of nougat and baker's spice still present.

It's important to be direct here: reception across serious, detailed reviews has been genuinely more mixed than most Avo releases. Multiple independent reviewers specifically described the flavor failing to reach a harmonious balance, excessive sweetness early on and a noticeable harshness in the final third, or a profile that started well but couldn't sustain interest past the first third. Retailer descriptions and casual buyer accounts, by contrast, consistently describe a luxurious, well-balanced smoke with brown sugar, coffee, chocolate, and cedar. Construction itself is generally praised as excellent regardless of flavor opinion, a perfect, well-packed build with a distinctive banding that pairs the primary Avo Nicaragua design with a thin secondary 10th anniversary band. Given the limited quantity and collectible nature of this release, it's a genuinely worthwhile pickup for dedicated Avo collectors, though smokers chasing a guaranteed, top-tier flavor experience may find the standard Syncro Nicaragua a more consistent choice.
