Description
The longest format in Alan Rubin's tribute to Alec Bradley's mild-cigar roots. At 7 x 50, the Medalist Churchill gives this smooth, deceptively substantial blend the most development time of any size in the line, without the wider ring gauge that defines the Gordo.
The construction stays consistent with the rest of the Medalist family: a shade-grown Honduran wrapper with a golden, oily appearance that reads almost as Connecticut Shade, layered over a Honduran binder and a filler blend combining Nicaraguan tobacco from Jalapa and Estelí with Honduran leaf from Jamastran. Made at Tabacos de Oriente, this remains the same blend Rubin built in 2018 specifically to bring back milder-cigar smokers who had drifted from Alec Bradley as the brand's reputation grew bolder over the years.
At 50 ring gauge, the Churchill keeps the wrapper's contribution proportionally closer to the narrower Robusto than the wide-ring Gordo, while the extended 7-inch length stretches the session considerably. This combination gives the cream, coffee, and graham cracker character more time to build and shift through distinct phases without the wrapper losing its presence in the smoke. As with every Medalist size, the light, approachable appearance here can be misleading. Medium-plus body and a real dose of white pepper on the retrohale confirm this cigar carries more substance than its color suggests, and the extended length of the Churchill means that fuller character has the most room of any size to reveal itself gradually across a long, unhurried session.

Flavor progression:
- Opening: cedar, hay, and toast lead the way, with a light creaminess and white pepper building on the retrohale early on
- Mid-smoke: graham cracker sweetness and a vanilla latte-like creaminess develop over an extended arc, coffee and cream notes given the most time of any Medalist size to settle in
- Close: pencil lead minerality and slightly charred coffee round out a long finish, the pepper and body most fully expressed by this stage
