Description
AJ Fernandez did not blend this cigar. That is the entire point. The Enclave by Eladio Díaz is the third blend in the Enclave family and the first to come from outside AJ Fernandez's Nicaraguan operation, built entirely by Eladio Díaz at his own factory in the Dominican Republic.
The original Enclave, released in 2015 with its Ecuadorian Rosado wrapper and Cameroon binder over Piloto Cubano Nicaraguan filler, established a specific flavor identity: pepper-forward, cedar-driven, baking spice throughout, distinctly Nicaraguan in character at its core. The Enclave Broadleaf extended that identity into darker, bolder territory with a Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper. Both blends were conceived and executed by AJ Fernandez at his Tabacalera factory in Estelí.
The Enclave by Eladio Díaz is a deliberate departure from that pattern. AJ Fernandez announced in spring 2025 that he had enlisted Eladio Díaz to expand the Enclave brand into a direction his own Nicaraguan operation does not naturally produce. Díaz spent more than forty years at Davidoff, where he led blending and quality control and shaped some of the most refined cigars produced in the Dominican Republic. After leaving Davidoff in 2021 he opened his own facility, Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera, in the Dominican Republic, which is where the Enclave by Eladio Díaz is rolled.
The blend reflects Díaz's Dominican blending philosophy rather than the AJ Fernandez signature profile. The filler is 100% Dominican tobacco, chosen for the refined, nuanced character that Dominican leaf contributes compared to the bold Nicaraguan core of the original Enclave. The binder is Ecuadorian and the wrapper is a Corojo '99 from Ecuador, a Cuban-heritage seed variety known for disease resistance, silky texture, and a cedar-rich aromatic quality. The Corojo '99 presents in a natural to Colorado coloring with visible oils and a smooth surface, considerably different in appearance from the reddish-golden Rosado wrapper of the standard Enclave.
The Toro at 6 x 54 is two ring gauge points wider than the standard Enclave Toro's 6 x 52, which suits the Dominican filler's more refined character by giving it a slightly more prominent role per draw. The opening delivers the Corojo '99 wrapper's characteristic pepper bite and coffee note before transitioning into what buyers consistently describe as the cigar's defining quality: a mellow, smooth Corojo profile of honey, cinnamon, white pepper, and cream that carries through the mid-smoke to a cedar and coffee finish. Cigar Coop described it as feeling more like an Eladio Díaz blend than an AJ Fernandez blend, which is accurate and also the point.

Flavor progression:
- First third: Corojo '99 wrapper delivers pepper and coffee with an initial spice bite, the Dominican filler's refined character beginning to emerge underneath
- Second third: pepper recedes and the Corojo's natural sweetness takes over, honey, cinnamon, and cream notes developing, the Dominican filler's cedar and earthy depth in the background
- Final third: coffee, cedar, and minimal spice carrying through to a smooth, refined close consistent with Dominican blending character
