The biggest ring gauge in the Quattro Nicaragua lineup. A 6 x 60 box-pressed Gordo from the cigar line that earned Cigar Aficionado's #1 Cigar of the Year in 2019. All-Nicaraguan puro, AJ Fernandez production, twenty per box.

The Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Grande is where Rafael Nodal's collaboration with AJ Fernandez reaches its largest format. Nodal, who built the Aging Room brand from a boutique Dominican operation into one of the most decorated lines in Altadis U.S.A.'s portfolio, partnered with Fernandez for the Quattro Nicaragua specifically because he wanted the full expression of what Nicaraguan tobacco from Fernandez's Estelí operation could deliver. The result was the Cigar of the

Year for 2019, rated 96 by Cigar Aficionado on the Maestro size.

The Grande carries that same all-Nicaraguan puro blend into a 6 x 60 format, the largest vitola in the lineup. A 60 ring gauge box-pressed Gordo changes how the blend performs. The greater width means a cooler, slower burn that gives each flavor note more time to develop before the next comes forward. The spice that characterizes Nicaraguan tobacco at the opening of the cigar softens earlier in the session. The mid-smoke complexity opens more fully. The dark chocolate, coffee, and nut notes that buyers consistently report from the Quattro Nicaragua line have more space to build and transition in a 6 x 60 than in the tighter sizes. This is not just a bigger version of the same cigar. It is a different experience of the same blend.

Buyer descriptions of the Quattro Nicaragua across sizes consistently hit the same note: "notes of coffee and nuts with a semi-sweet finish," "smooth and balanced, very flavorful," "notes of spice, coffee, nuts, and comforting cocoa sweetness," with reviewers noting the second third shifts toward a "buttery, rich, slightly vanilla" quality before the final third brings in "sweet cream, leather, earth and some spice." In the Grande format, that journey runs longer and develops more gradually, which is exactly what smokers choosing the largest ring gauge in any cigar line want.

Flavor progression:

  1. First third: pepper and spice lead from the Nicaraguan wrapper, coffee and cedar on the draw, the box press contributing evenness to the burn
  2. Second third: spice settles as dark chocolate and nuts come forward, the blend opening into a buttery, rich quality with hints of vanilla
  3. Final third: sweet cream, leather, earth, and controlled spice merge into a smooth, satisfying finish

Construction:

  1. Box-pressed Gordo, firmly packed, no soft spots
  2. Nicaraguan wrapper with a natural chocolate-brown color and light oiliness
  3. Foot aroma carries rich chocolate and coffee bean on a cold pull
  4. Burn rate is even and slow at the 60 ring gauge, producing generous smoke volume
